The blacksmiths had a working forge, and were actually making tools for the settlement, all handmade. One lovely older lady told us about what they would have done in the evenings, by candle light, for recreation after a long day of work. Her knitting was beautiful! One of the ladies told us a great deal about the history of the house she stood in, one of the few that is original and not a reproduction. She was the only re-enactor who stood still and posed for me! Also pictured is a Cobbler, he is actually making shoes, the old fashioned way! He really knows his stuff. No one has shoes made anymore, which is a shame. His work looks like it would last a lot longer than anything I have seen in a store in the last ten years!
The historical volunteers are very informative and friendly, if you have never gone I suggest you check it out!
